Description
A hand-built interactive circuit sculpture by Peter Vogel (1937–2017), the Freiburg physicist-turned-artist who spent five decades making electronic circuitry audible and visible as art. Photocells, transistors, diodes, and loudspeakers are soldered into an open framework whose behaviors—triggered by the viewer's shadow and sound—were composed directly into the components themselves, without computers or synthesizers. The title Cascade (Kaskade) is documented in Vogel's catalogued oeuvre: his estate archive records a sound-reactive Kaskade among his interactive objects.

Acquired from DAM Gallery, Berlin, in November 2017, in a single purchase with the two other Vogel sculptures and two Manfred Mohr P-120 plotter drawings (PION.2017.001 and PION.2017.002).
Photographed on the wall in the collection: four parallel strands run the full drop of the piece, studded with turquoise indicator LEDs, with four small round elements at one end.
