Description
Peter Vogel (1937–2017) trained in physics and worked in neurophysiological research before devoting himself, from his Freiburg studio, to interactive sound sculpture. His works are exposed, hand-soldered circuits—photocells, transistors, resistors, and small loudspeakers mounted on fine wire armatures—that translate a viewer's passing shadow or sound into sequences of electronic tones, making the spectator a performer in the piece. Vogel composed exclusively with the analog components inside each object, using no samplers, synthesizers, or computers, and spoke of his works as materialized scores. The title's paired voices align with duo-titled works recorded elsewhere in his oeuvre.

Acquired from DAM Gallery, Berlin, in November 2017, in a single purchase with the two other Vogel sculptures and two Manfred Mohr P-120 plotter drawings (PION.2017.001 and PION.2017.002).
