Description
Slippery Rock (Gouache), from Roman Verostko's Algorithmic Poetry series, celebrates the fluid interaction between algorithmic structure and the expressive qualities of brush and color. Created with Verostko's custom-written software and executed using a plotter adapted to hold traditional brushes, the work combines sweeping gouache gestures with the precision of computational logic. Inspired by the rhythms and textures of the natural landscape, the composition evokes the movement of water flowing over stone, where carefully programmed algorithms give rise to forms that feel spontaneous and organic.
As with the entire Algorithmic Poetry series, Slippery Rock reflects Verostko's vision of code as a poetic medium. By merging the discipline of mathematics with the expressive language of calligraphy and painting, the artwork demonstrates how digital processes can produce works of remarkable vitality, beauty, and emotional depth, bridging technology with the timeless experience of nature.
