Description
A plotter drawing from the period of Verostko's late "Algorithmic Poetry" works, exhibited at [DAM] Gallery, Berlin, in 2010–11 as "Algorithmic Poetry: The Joy of Digital." In these works Verostko's Hodos software drove a pen plotter whose drawing arm he famously adapted to hold Chinese brushes as well as ink pens, letting the machine lay down supple calligraphic strokes he presented as visual poetry — algorithmic script that "speaks visually" rather than literally. The title reflects his practice of evocative rather than descriptive naming: "the forms do not refer to other realities; rather, they are realities in and of themselves."
