Description
The second impression in an edition of five, this work from Kröhnert's STARDUST series (2020) reprises Hubble's celebrated 'Pillars of Creation' view of the Eagle Nebula's star-forming columns. Kröhnert reduced the image to a stipple field with Evil Mad Scientist's StippleGen, generated the machine code in Grasshopper, and plotted it in acrylic and metallic gel inks on black A3 paper using the pen plotter she built during Austria's first pandemic lockdown. Because each plot wears through four to seven pens, the artist regards every print in the edition as a unique object, its metallic sheen shifting with the light.
