Ordo

Ordo is a long-form generative work of 276 pieces that Charles Csuri drew in 2017 from files on his personal computer, spanning six decades of his experiments with line, form, colour and space. Csuri generated the works with his own Ribbon tool, which produces brushstroke-like ribbons and strings threading through transparent three-dimensional shapes, and his Color Mix tool, which varies colour according to the ribbons' spatial relationships. He set the parameters, responded to what the program returned, and selected the final works — the exchange between generative process and artistic judgement that ran through his whole practice.
