Description
Phil — Philip Glass as a hatched grid, stamped cell by cell: Close's contribution to the Rubber Stamp Portfolio (1976, published 1977 by Parasol Press with MoMA), thirteen rubber-stamp prints by thirteen artists including Sol LeWitt, Agnes Martin, and Carl Andre. An edition of one thousand, numbered and unsigned — this copy is #635 — with hand-lettered grid coordinates running A–V and 1–28, the image being Close's gridded working drawing of Glass rebuilt in stamp ink. MoMA holds the same print (acc. 181.1977.4).
I've been interested in Chuck Close's work because of his non-computerized pixel based approach.
