Arrington de Dionyso (American, b. 1975) is an Olympia, Washington artist and musician — founder of the band Old Time Relijun — whose drawing practice runs parallel to his work in trance-influenced music. Working rapidly in sumi and acrylic ink, he channels what he describes as the territory between surrealist automatism, shamanic seance, and the folk imagery of rock and roll, with lines that twist into labyrinthine, mythic figures. Pop-culture icons surface regularly in this visionary vocabulary; this 2016 drawing of two Darth Vaders is characteristic of his raw, high-volume ink output, though the individual sheet is not separately documented.
