Description
P-332-A dates from the years of Manfred Mohr's Divisibility work phase (1980–1984), in which the cube served as a fixed structure for generating visual signs: divided into four quadrants by a horizontal and a vertical cut, each quadrant receives an independently rotated projection of the cube, with two diagonally opposed quadrants sharing the same rotation to hold the sign together. Works of this period distinguish "out-lines," which form shapes, from "in-lines," which form signs, and were computed and drawn on the high-resolution Benson flatbed plotter at the Météorologie Nationale in Paris, where Mohr worked until relocating full-time to New York. This impression is signed, dated (19)81–86, and numbered 11/40 in pencil. [Verification note: neighboring P-numbers are documented Divisibility works, but P-332 itself is not recorded in public online catalogues of Mohr's œuvre.]
