Karson came to the Center for Machine Arts in Peekskill with the July 2023 cohort carrying a dataset: more than 15,000 damaged leaves she photographed during Vermont's spongy-moth outbreak of 2021–22, gathered for machine learning as the Damaged Leaf Dataset. Vulnerable to Bugs in Westchester turns that research into a plotter drawing — number 28 of 30 — insect damage as form.
