Rachael from Blade Runner — the 1982 replicant, dark bob and red lips against pale blue — remade by a machine that paints, which is exactly the kind of joke worth building a machine for. It extends his Rachael 2049 series ("I love the film… This is a Rachael that never existed"), and the machine matters as much as the subject: Collard painted her in 2025 on a Bantam Tools ArtFrame originally built for the Harold Cohen exhibition at the Whitney Museum. "Being able to create on a tool that once plotted Cohen's work is an incredible privilege," he said. The replicant question — what counts as an original? — does the rest of the work.
