Description
Joel Cammarata is an architecture-trained artist who composes in CAD drafting software and executes his drawings on pen plotters — an AxiDraw and, later, Bantam Tools NextDraw and ArtFrame machines — using the vector toolpath to direct gel pens, fountain pens, pencils, and paint across watercolor paper. Through his Patreon he issues recurring sets of postcard-sized plotted prints to subscribing patrons, each sheet inscribed with a running set number and a date code recording the year and month of production (2411 = November 2024). The sets range across abstract geometric studies, including precise line constructions of named knots such as the bowline on a bight. Cammarata completed an artist residency at Bantam Tools in Peekskill, New York, in August 2025.
